Student with Disabilities Transport Program (SDTP)

About the Student with Disabilities Transport Program (SDTP)

The Student with Disabilities Transport Program (SDTP) is funded by the Victorian Department of Education and Training. As this program is funded, families will not incur a cost to take part in this service. Please be aware however that should your child require special equipment in order to travel, on most occasions this will be required to be funded by families.

The transport program is run by Warragul Bus Lines who manage all transport routes, timetabling and employment of staff.  This is a subcontracted service by the Department of Education. Each special school has a Transport Coordinator who oversees the program run by Warragul Bus Lines.

Warragul & District Specialist School Transport Coordinator is Rachel Morgan (Acting Assistant Principal). Should you have any questions, concerns, major changes such as moving house or behaviour support please contact her via phone or email.

Contact details: Ph: 56231385 or warragul.district.ss@education.vic.gov.au

There are currently 7 buses running at Warragul & District Specialist School. Each bus has a bus driver and a supervisor who travel with students throughout the duration of the service. Click Here for Timetables

Pupil free days

Services will not operate on pupil free days and public holidays.

Individual Travel Plans

Students who travel on STDP buses will have an Individual Travel Plan developed collaboratively to support them in their travel.  Parents will have the opportunity to give input and review Individual Travel Plans at their child’s SSGs.

These will also be reviewed following incidents on the bus or other times of need.

Expectations for Travel

Schools are expected to support bus operators in managing and supporting student behaviour on buses, to reduce the risk of students presenting with challenging behaviour and to reduce the risk of behaviours escalating if they do present.

If the school believes an incident on the bus is particularly serious, a student’s access to transport may be immediately suspended. The school will work with the student, his/her parents/carers, the bus operator and the driver of the bus service to determine if and when the student will recommence travel and what (if necessary) the conditions of travel will be.

During a period of suspension, a student’s transport is the responsibility of their parent/carer. A conveyance allowance may be available to families of students permanently removed from services.

Issues that threaten the safety of bus staff in their place of work must be immediately addressed in line with occupational health and safety legislation. The school and bus company may be required to work together to seek suitable outcomes in these circumstances.

Roll Call App

Our school is now using RollCall for our school bus service.  It has some fabulous features such as real time tracking of buses that we think you will really enjoy using.

Let the office know if you need connecting and we will make sure you receive an email with instructions on what to do.
